To Be Olivia.

Have you seen Olivia Palermo in the latest Marie Claire Spain issue (April 2012)? The feminine, sophisticated, retro glamour of every look might just be the only wardrobe I need for the new season. Wrap it up! I'll take them all. (I wish.)

This bright flowy dress would be perfect for my rehearsal dinner. I love the sheer sleeves, on-trend color, and gold accessories.

One look at her hair in this photo and I'm confidant I will go back to a brown shade someday. I love this classic Bardot half-up hair style. The pretty pastel feather skirt is so special, I would wear it to my bridal shower. Plus, I just want to rip those amazing shoes right off of her feet!

Olivia shows us how to do spring's pastel fashion with a deep raisin nail color. The dark color works well as a neutral while being a dramatic contrast to her outfit at the same time. (Check out 'Dark Lava' here.) The delicate accordion pleats of this dress are a thoughtful detail. I could wear this to one of the many baby showers I'm invited to this spring.

Of course, sometimes you just want comfort. On those occasions my personal style can often take on a bohemian vibe. This long pink eyelet number is the perfect balance of feminine, sexy, and bohemian. I would wear it to the grocery store, to the beach, and to brunch. Versatile dresses are always a win in my book.

I would wear this printed dress with pumps to meet with clients or a wedding vendor. I would change to pretty ballet flats for a day of shopping on Newbury Street. Love that lipstick shade... And seriously, look at her hair!

Take Time to Smell the Roses.

When my Vogue arrives in the mail each month I never open it. Pouring over its perfumed pages is one of my favorite rituals so I wait for the day I can delve in uninterrupted. However, the days of sitting down next to a candle with a cup of coffee in my favorite silk robe have been few and far between lately. Between planning the wedding, working, and still attempting to accomplish daily household tasks, I haven't had a lot of 'free' time and sadly, my favorite ritual has been moved to the time spent under the dryer at my hair color appointments... Until today.

I had a quick minute to download the new Vogue application on my iPad (so psyched it's finally here!) and when I saw that the next issue was already available I couldn't resist taking a peek. This shoot stopped me in my tracks and forced me to give my favorite ritual the time and respect it deserved. It was a much needed distraction in my day and I had to share this fashion moment with you.

Kate Moss + haute couture + Ritz Paris = Stunning. I couldn't tear my eyes away. The shoot took place at Ritz Paris before they close their doors for renovation. The fashion is modeled by the one and only Kate Moss. Is there anything more glamourous?!

Smitten.

In addition to launching my business in a new state, I am busy planning my wedding. The process has had its highs and lows thus far, but the best part is daydreaming about my big day. That, and all of the wedding magazines!

I hate to admit it, but I can't remember the last time that I read a good book. The reason being that I am unable to put down my fashion magazines. Since getting the IPad last fall, I have taken my love to an all new level now that I can tote as many around as I want and not feel like I'm back in grade school lugging around the weight of my textbooks. The new magazine to catch my eye is an online-only wedding publication called Smitten Magazine. Can we discuss the bouquet of white peonies on the front cover? Swoon-worthy. The wedding fashions inside are just as beautiful.

The focus of their first issue is Southern Style. It contains beautiful photos and stories of real weddings, and the southern ones featured are the perfect eye candy for anyone planning a wedding. My favorite section is the breakdown of southern bride style. Southern Chic? Traditional Elegance? Or Ethereal? I just can't decide on my favorite...

What do you think? Gorgeous right?!

Their stylist also made some fabulous suggestions for bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts. I love the bow ties and monogrammed soaps.

What is your favorite part of wedding planning? Do you use magazines for their amazing tips? Then check out Smitten.

Happy May.

Ah, the start of another week. The good news is, it's May. I feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that winter could not be further away in New England. We get to look forward to seven glorious snow-free months and I am ready. Bring on spring!

For obvious reasons, one of the hottest trends in nail polish every spring is coral. It is a color that is off limits during the grey months of winter so it marks the change of seasons for me. Coral is bright, it's warm, it shows off a tan, and it always makes me think of tropical vacation destinations. You can't help but feel cheery looking at these shades. They are the perfect bold statement for spring. However, much like hot pink lipstick (see post here), you need to find the right coral nail polish shade that works for your skin tone. This means that shades of peachy melon or reddish orange may be more appropriate for you than a bright coral orange. Here are some of the best:

 Top to bottom:
1. Chanel, Miami Peach- A pinky peach with a very subtle gold shimmer. Office friendly and totally chic.
2. Deborah Lippmann, Girls Just Want To Have Fun- Pink Orange. Feminine and fun. New color for Spring 2011!
3. Deborah Lippmann, Lara's Theme- Double Dutch Orange - Hot orange. For those who are bold. It was also featured in the May issue of Vogue. (*Note: In the magazine it appears much more red than it is in person.)

4. Essie, Clambake- A rich red orange. Perfect for toes.

Handling hangers, zippers, buttons, and tape all day means that my manicures barely last a whole week before chipping. When I got engaged this past winter, people were constantly asking to see my ring and I had to come up with a better solution for my nail. (Acrylics were not an option. In fact, they should be banned in my opinion.)  Enter the god-send: gel nail polishes. I will never go back to ordinary polish for my hands. A gel polish manicure lasts me three weeks! And, because of the way the polish bakes on, it is dry when I get up from the table so my nails never smudge. When these polishes first came out, the color selection was limited, but not anymore. Here is the color I chose yesterday:
It's a shellac polish called Tropix, by CND. Out of the bottle it's a bright pinky coral and it is definitely putting me in the mindset for a new season. I've come out of hibernation! And so has the beautiful Kim Kardashian. She wore coral to the Kids' Choice Awards this year.

So, my fellow style goddesses, will you be wearing coral nail polish this spring?
