White out.

I'm going to start posting my answers to your style questions. Maybe you have been wondering about the same thing? This one is from our facebook wall ("like" Everyday Runway here):

Can you really wear white all year round?

Yes, you can wear white all year round. But you have to keep a few things in mind.

First, what is the clothing item made out of? The material and texture determine whether a white item is appropriate for the season. Linen, jersey, and denim are all materials that are too summer-y. Patent leather is never okay. (Unless you are under the age of five and it is Easter.) Heavier fabrics and blends work well for fall and winter. If you want to wear white after Labor Day, think wool, fur, angora, and cotton layering pieces. Silk can be gorgeous too.

Now, what are you going to wear the white item with? All white is chic, but white will also work with black, grey, and other neutrals. You could also pair your white item with jewel tones for a cool take on the graphic colorblocking trend. Avoid wearing white with pastels, which is too spring, and red, which is too holiday. Also be careful with navy blue as it can look too nautical-inspired if done incorrectly.

Lastly, think about the color of your white item. Stark white can be more difficult so my advice is to channel your inner Aspen ski bunny with this one. Winter white and ivory are a safer bet.

Ultimately, let your current skin tone be the judge. Do you feel beautiful? Then wear it.

Good luck!

Treat everyday like you are on the runway.
